The GTherm proprietary system is superior to existing Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) in several important ways.
- GTherm’s approach does not require building a water reservoir. As a result, a GTherm power plant can be located anywhere there is a source of adequate “hot rock” geothermal heat and can effectively generate electric power at 195°F.
- The GTherm system is a totally closed system and creates absolutely no pollution. By having a completely closed loop system and not requiring a water reservoir GTherm eliminates all environmental issues and produces clean renewable sustainable energy.
- Because the entire SWEGS field is below ground, there is minimal visual impact to the environment.
- Given the SWEGS fields below ground implementation, secondary uses of the land are possible. Secondary uses can include solar fields, wind farms and commercial and recreational uses such as ranching, farming, sports fields, etc.
The key technology components of GTherm’s proprietary system have been tested by a variety of independent laboratories including the Department of Energy, Brookhaven National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories.
